OCIA Becoming Catholic

Questions About Being Catholic?
We’re Glad You Asked!

The process of becoming Catholic is explored through the program called Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). This program is approximately nine months and covers several topics of Catholic beliefs:

  • Personal relationship with God
  • The 10 Commandments
  • The structure of Mass
  • Mary and the Saints
  • Sacraments
  • Death, Judgement, Heaven and Hell

The OCIA team at St. Francis of Assisi Church is a group of local Catholics who are dedicated to sharing their faith.

If you are interested in joining our OCIA program, please click here to fill out this short form and the OCIA team will contact you.

O.C.I.A. Classes will meet on Wednesday evenings in the Parish Hall from 6:30-8:00 p.m. beginning on September 6, 2023

Each session will include reading “Breaking Open the Word” in preparation for the coming Sunday’s mass readings, and a presentation with small group discussion to explore Catholic teachings.

If needed, childcare will be provided during the Wednesday evening sessions, free of charge.

Mass attendance is required for those in the OCIA class. You are welcome to attend any Mass of your choice: 5:00pm Saturday, 8:30am Sunday, or 11:00am Sunday. We encourage you to attend Mass with your family, sponsor, and supporters.
