Communion and Liberation (CL) is a Catholic lay movement that began in the 1950’s in Italy under the guidance of Fr. Luigi Guissani.  It is now present throughout the world, including here in OKC.  The movement focuses on the faith as lived, present experience, relevant to life’s needs.  The primary gesture of the Movement is a weekly meeting known as “School of Community,” in which a common text is read and discussed in the light of one’s own experience, thus verifying the Christian proposal and its capacity to respond to human needs in every aspect of reality.  It also helps us grow in Christian maturity.  CL meets Tuesday nights from 7:30-8:30 here at St. Francis in the Meerschaert House Library.  Saint Pope John Paul II formally approved the movement in the 1980s, and Pope Benedict XVI is a friend of the movement. Contact Merideth Ochs at merideth.miller89@gmail.com or 405.429.9898.

The Friends of St. Francis is a social group for parishioners (age 21 and up) that meets several times a year to promote faith, friendship, fellowship and fun!  Free onsite childcare provided. The group hosts various dinners and activities in the parish hall and is always looking for parishioners to host an event at their home or on campus.  Contact Susan Hogan at soulehogan@att.net or 405.824.3066.
